That is pretty much normal for the auto. Go with a Jasper,they hold up alot better than the Ford remans. If you use them hard about 65-70000 miles usually lets them out even with fluid/filter changes. We have 8 F350's at work and at 65,000 they go in for a trans replacement as part of the routine maintenance.It's cheaper to replace them before they fail,rather than pay tow bills and have a crew and trailer broken down on the side of the road. Just the nature of the truck under severe applications.
