Don't kid yourself into thinking that a 3 pt backhoe can compare to a real backhoe. I've used them for digging trenches and cleaning ditches in a sandy soil area. I wouldn't think of recommending one for heavy soils or digging up stumps. They move the dirt OK in sand, but they are so hard on the tractor. Aside from the weight, the jerking is terrible. And unless you have a ton of add on front end weights, you'll be relying on your directional breaks to steer.
