Chris: There was a long thread started by "JustJeff" about a month ago that dealt with this topic--the consensus was that they're a whole lot better than a shovel for light work, but not up to heavy digging. The basic problems are that (1) they're not attached firmly enough to the tractor to be useful in many applications and (2) because they're an "add-on" attachement, the tractor's hydraulic system usually isn't adequate to run one very fast. If you can pick one up for a couple of grand, it will probably pay for itself, but if you're doing heavy work such as stump digging, you're better off buying a piece of purpose-built equipment.
