truck not a tractor

I know it is not a tractor, but I just bought a used Silverado HD which is my first truck with an hour meter (which I did not know how to access until I read the manual). The truck has 31,000 miles and 1075 engine hours. I was susprised to find this many hours. Do ya'll have any experience average miles/hours. And is it a fair assumption that truck hour meters do not depend on engine rpm?
