Most any Detroit 2 cycle. The combination of that 2 cycle buzz combined with the mechanical growl/howl of the blowers made for a very macho engine sound. My local favorite was a 12V 71 TI on a big tub hay grinder. Had only 12 inch stacks with rain caps on the turbo outlets. You could hear him doing his warmup idle 1 mile down wind. At full rpm when a wet round bale was dropped into the grinder,you could hear him for 2-3 miles in any direction,and much more down wind. Very hard to choose the sound between this and the P 51 at full song.
