Todd the CA has a "hand clutch" on the rh rear axle that was used to stop tractor movement and still have pto and hydraulics. It is a weak point and was known to slip. A lot of them were bolted up solid or replaced with a lh axle. I have a feeling that this clutch is just shot which will give the same results as a rearend being out.

CA's are a nice little estate tractor with lots of power...if it is a rearend used parts will be easy to find for it. I have a tranny/rearend setting out back myself (3rd gear is out).
