To use an electric tach, you must use an alternator with a tachometer terminal. I don't think the single wire delcos are available with this option.You would have to go to an internally regulated delco with 3 terminals on the case(battery,exciter and tach). Plus you will have to adjust your pulley size accordingly to give you a correct reading.
