Hi Aaron, I had the same misconceptions as the others about the ford v10. I have a 97 powerstroke and luv it, we started shopping for an excursion recently and i wanted a diesel. The truck we found was a great deal, all options we wanted except it had a v10. We bought it and are very happy with it. 2000 model, lots of power, dead smooth running and not nearly so bad on fuel as rumoured. We get about 14 miles per gallon empty and about 10 mpg pulling my 21 foot boat. This is not babying it either, 75 miles per hour plus.
I came to the conclusion that the $5 or $6 thous. diff. to buy the diesel will buy one heck of alot of gas. In benefit you get faster warmup, less smell, and more user friendliness for the wife. Don't be scared of the v10 if it is the truck you want, it is a much better engine than the triton 5.4 and better than the dodge v10. 460 better? ya right, I bet you think your old farmall is better than a new maxxum. Stop living in the past.
