I have a strange problem, 2 or 3 of us fair seasoned mechanics can't seem to figure out. engine will start, sometimes hard starting, needs to be run with choke adjusted to throttle speed in order to keep running, uses a lot of fuel when doing this, understandably so, what I have discovered is number 2 cylinder is not picking up its fair share of load. If I short number 1 spark plug to ground engine will run noticeably slower and you can easily hear the difference. If I do the same to number 2 it does not sound real noticeable for several seconds, then engine will slow down and does not sound the same as number one. Checked compression 60+, 2 different Mags, a X and C, 2 different carbs, all obvious things. My problem is this I'm not familiar with these John Deere 2 cyl. engines. Timing is by the book and my hair is getting thinner. Any suggestions out there. Thanks Dan
