Why don't you play safe ? transform your 850 in 12 V negative ground and be universal ! You just have to polarize the generator, reverse polarity on the ammeter, ... By the way, with your 12 V positive ground, did you respect the polarity of your coil, i mean the spark jumps from central electrode to the ground electrode ? if it is not polarized correctly, you will observe central electrode erosion.
