As JMS suggested below (about holding something up against the block), could you possibly make your "adapter" and hold it against the block and then brazing it? This may just be a silly idea--I'm not familiar with a 60 (I have an A), but if you could do something like holding your adapter in place, then brazing, it would save you the trouble of pulling the block.
