Drain plug on J.D.

On a J.D. 60 that had not been run in sevaral years with the drain plug left out, the threads had rusted and lost their dept ( new plug will not tighten ). What do you fellows recomend, some of you told me how to fix the throttle lever last week. This is the best place anywhere to get new ideas. Would J.B. weld hold a 3/4 X 1/2 inch pipe bushing in place and then use 1/2 plug in it ? Any help appreciated.
