The vane pumps gave problems and most have been replaced, I think. Since you appear to have rubber in it, however, I would go further. Get a kit for it, less than twenty bucks. Try Speedco (Dennis Speed) at SPEEDCO2609@AOL.COM Lift the top off,preferably with a hoist of some sort or, at least, two people cause it will pinch you and get you in a strain. Remove the rectangu;lar plate on top (four large bolts and a small one) It hides one of the bolts that holds the cylinder in place. Put some air close to the hole to pop the piston out. Put it next to a board. Don't try to catch it with your hand. It will hurt. The new O ring goes on the oil side. The backup leather washer goes on the outside. Make sure you reinstall the piston with the flat side first. It has been done before. The lift arms won't go down.Soak the leather washer in warm, not hot water while you are cleaning up stuff. There is a valve moved by the control lever. The one that usually gives problems is the floating valve called the unloader valve next to it. It takes a little effort, does not require special tools, remove this valve and replace the O ring on it. Other than that, flush the whole system, replace the oil with GOOD hydraulic oil. Yours may still have heavy transmission oil in it. Remove the plug at the pump and fill it with oil before you start. LEAVE THE LIFT LEVER DOWN for several minutes after cranking. You want the least resistance to oil flow possible while the system gets primed and filled with oil. Good luck.
