If you want to keep the original 6 volt starting system, you may need to rebuild the starter but should rebuilding the starter not help that much (and it won't if you have installed Fire Creator Pistons or other oversize higher compression pistons) you could go to a 12 volt electrical system. Use the 6 volt starter and change your generator to a 12 volt alternator and your 300 will start much easier. Don't forget to change anything that is 6 volts to 12 volts except the starter like the sealed beam lights ect. The new 12 volt battery will have to be changed to neg. ground also. Good Luck!
