One thing I learned that stops tresspassers is FLAT TIRES. Buy an old harrow and set it in the gateway turned upside down. Nothing like a few destroyed tires to discourage people. Another is to set a honey bee hive up near the gateway. Swinging gates with chains and locks help (until they decide to pack bolt cutters but more likely they won't own one). Until you have someone living there you will be stuck with people assuming its OK to wonder around an abandoned farm site. Forget about the law helping you, this is not a revenue generating crime (unless you bride the officer to do his job).
