One manufacturer of those tandem Fordsons was Doe out of England. There were also a lot 'roll-your-own' versions of this arrangement. There have been many examples over the years of FARMERS hooking two tractors together to get more power and traction. History indicates that it was the farmers who led the charge for more power, traction and performance from the available tractors and that manufacturers were somtimes a little slow to follow the trend. I have some photos of various examples of tandem tractors which I will post in Tractor Photos over the next few days. I have no idea where most of them came from because I received them on a CD from a contact in U.S.A. and there was not a lot of information with them other than an ID in the caption. Among them are tandem JD R's, tandem JD D's, tandem Cases, tandem Fordsons, tandem Australian-built Chamberlains and even a triple JD hook-up which I think is 3 830's. There are even double and triple hook-ups of Farmall F20's side by side on only four wheels. From the above, it is obvious that the quest for more grunt started fairly early in the development of the farm tractor. Hope this helps. You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
