I had a problem with a health insurance company (they kept trying to get me to pay even after I had paid the entire annual deductible). I copied my letter to the company to the State Insurance Commissioner (Washington state). They not only replied, but sent a letter to the company, laying out a schedule of dates for them to follow (date for response to me and the commish, date by which I had to answer their response, etc.). The company paid up, pronto.
