The only application I have seen the plug behind the pump used for was to supply base oil to the injection pump. I have only seen that on later models, but it could have been used on earlier one as well. I don't know. I'm not sure what feed it has, but probably off the main gallery. Stick a gauge in and see what pressure is there. Something around 40 psi would be normal for a warm engine at rated speed (I think). So, if you have reliable pressure there, and you can fit the pressure switch in there, I see no reason not too. Those plugs can be a bugger to get out too. Mabey try a metric allen bit slightly larger, and hammer it in. Sometimes that will bite enough. I am rather reluctant to suggest heating it. Guess that depends on your comfort zone there. Again, with the oil pressure sender/switch, I have only seen them on the left as described before. Hope this helps you out some. Good luck. Rod
