There seems to be a lot of that going around now. I just bought an IH 240 that the owner said can't be shifted with the engine running. It has a few other problems, so I haven't tried starting it yet. I put it in 4th and dragged it 3-4 feet with clutch out. Then I clamped the clutch down, put it each gear and rocked it. The fan does not move, which indicates there is no connection from the tranny to the engine. I hope I have fixed the problem. I'll know when I start it.
