We have a small club in Southern Oregon. We never have charged admission. We tried it one year, $2 per car load. People would drive 30 miles from the nearest town (about 30,000) find out we had an admission, turn around and leave.

What we do is put out old milk cans with a sign taped on them reading DONATIONS KEEP OUR CLUB RUNNING PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN. We have found $20 bills and checks for up to $100 in the cans. Granted the large donations are few but if you charge that same person $2 to get in the gate then the donation probably wouldn't be in the can.

We also do pretty well in the food booth. Thanks to the women that put this on.
