(I also posted this in the Case Tractors section) I recently located a Case 660 Combine (4 cyl. gas engine) not far from our 15 acre farm that I can collect for free. It has a 5" dia. tree growing up through the corn head, so it's been sitting there a while. The bean head is laying on the ground nearby amidst piles of other junk. It appears to be pretty complete, and has not yet sunk into the ground far enough for the lower sheet metal to touch (and rot). The auger pipe is rusted out on the bottom, though. I'd be interested in opinions on whether this is a worthwhile project to undertake. Are parts still available for the 660? Ultimately, I'd like a small combine that I can use on several acres of corn/wheat/oats - is the 660 suited to that kind of usage? (I'm still learning farming, having moved to the midwest from the Atlanta, GA suburbs a couple of years ago). Would also appreciate any suggestions on restarting the engine after it has sat so long (should I determine it's worth a go). Thanks for any suggestions/input... es

Lets examine the purpose and design of these fasteners in order to ensure their proper use. Fasteners are probably one of the aspects of mechanics that is given the least amount of thought.
