Wasn't me, but sounded like a heck of a deal. When grandad came back from WWII, he was looking to buy a farm. Could have bought either 200 acres of kinda poor farm land near Goldsboro, NC, or the 40 acres we live on today. The 200 acres near Goldsboro, is now part of Seymour Johnson AFB. From what I can understand, the government paid a pretty good price for it around late 40's early 50's.
