The purpose of hydraulics is to move things. The purpose of making them live is so the hydraulic force is always there when the engine is running, instead of only when the driveshaft is turning. The latter being a Ford idea with the N series tractors, and being a serious limitation. Yes, any tractor can be converted to live hydraulics and a three point hitch. Some far more easily then others, which is why some tractors are not converted. In those cases, it's just not worth doing. Installing a 3 point hitch on an Allis Chalmers G series would be a good example of not being worthwhile.
