-What are the warm/hot starts like? -Doubt that it would be hyd pump. most tractors don't have cut-out solenoids and they start just fine. Your oil pump doesn't drag on the starter, does it? -Same goes for the injector pump. That's like saying the distributor on a gas engine drags on the starter. Only if the gears are misaligned and jammed. -Have you tried jumping it from your car or truck battery when this problem occurs? How does it respond to a pull start? -New batteries, starter, cables. Does this model have a separate solenoid(relay) or is it part of the starter? -Don't discount corroded/loose/cracked wiring. I've found several instances of this each time the FORD 2000 Industrial would groan when I tried to start him this summer. Just enough current to make it barely turn over. Loosen some connections and wire brush them, re-tighten and VAAROOOOM!! -Consider loose connections at or internal to your starter switch. Next time it does it's trick, bypass the starter switch and use a jumper cable to make the connection on your solenoid or starter.(Normal precautions in mind). -Lastly, if nothing else works after you've talked to a DEERE mechanic, jack up the batteries, disconnect them, drive some other color tractor under them, re-connect the batteries and go on enjoying tractoring the way God intended. We won't think any the less of you for switching brands. GOOD LUCK, Jim -
