Yes the problem could well be in the MCV as it controls steering,brakes,TA,pumping oil to a cooler,and trans. lube. Heres a couple of ideas-You could have an internal leak in one or more circuits served by the MCV,like the TA. Could also just be time for a new pump. Low flow will cause freewheeling and other symptoms you describe.You only have 5 GPM, I think, to serve the tractor controls so it doesn't take a big leak with an old pump to cause trouble.Also possible key sheared in drive gear on pump.
