If it is an electric gauge, just find the resistance specs for the gauge and sender. Pull the sender and check that. Most will probably run a range of 15 up to 250 ohms, with a steady ascent or descent through the range. If the descent is even, I wouldn't worry too much about the exact values. The gauge will have a similar range of values, depending on the location of the indicator needle. Also check all the wires in the system. I recently had a bad sender. Some of the wires were busted in the rheostat. It would read to a certain point, then the circuit would open. You might find a similar problem. Good luck. Rod
