All 8N's had a 4 speed transmission with non-live hydraulics and non-live pto. Many thousands are still doing the job even with those limitations. The best thing to do is evaluate what you need the tractor for and then buy a tractor that meets those needs. Many people use an 8N to bushhog and get by just fine with an ORC to compensate for the lack of live pto.
