Olan,
Try posting the same info on the Ford discussion board. Tony Jacobs, is the one to ask fo. All is not lost, from past post they have a tranny lock release you need to actuate inorder to tow when dead. You may just need a minor adjustment to restore all back to normal. Search the archives.
