Is the distance from the drawbar pin to the end of the pto shaft correct, check the manual for your piece of equipment and see what distance it specifies. There is a different dimention for 540 and 1000 rpm operation. Is the pto shaft in line with the drawbar?What you are hearing is driveline noise carried through to the gear train of the tractor. You are either collapsing the slip yoke completely on a turn or turning the driveshaft at too severe an angle. The noise is not good for your mower or the geartrain in the tractor
