The rollback truck is a good safe way of doing it.
The truck should have hydraulics that will lift
up to the trailer so knowing the height of the
trailer is not that important. Trailers seem to
be in the 40" to 48" height with step-decks being
about 30-36". I had a tractor delivered one time
that was unloaded onto a ramp I built from wood
chips and some cement forms. The forms held the
chips from crushing too much and I had packed
them down good with another tractor. Ive seen them
unloaded onto wood pallets, sand piles and snow
banks. Tractors are pretty easy because of the
high ground clearence, but that old Chevy will
need some good and stable. Good luck.
