Absolutely use a presure washer, but first, get several cans of EZ-Off oven cleaner and spray it all over everything that is not aluminum (watch the ID tags). Wait a day, then pressure wash and most of the paint and grease will come off. The "typical" paint job you describe is done when new paint is wanted, but zero restoration first. Just paint over everything. If you are going to be disassembling the tractor to restore it, you will be painting the pieces in stages before reassembly and won't suffer the look given to the quick and dirty job.
