Adjust the top link so that the rear of the mower is 1" higher than the front. Adjust the tail wheel so that it only lightly touches the ground when mowing on level ground, this will protect the rear of the mower from digging in when you encounter uneven terrain but not have heavy weight on it all the time so as to wear out bushings/bearings. This is the advice given in my owners manual and it works for me.
