Sounds like you are in the market to buy a "Bush Hog" type mower....!!! Get the largest one you can reasonably use behind your tractor... Either pull-type, or 3-point... In very Tall grass and weeds, you will be over-lapping, as the right tractor wheel tramps the stuff down, and the mower will not pick it up... So, the mower will have to catch that on the next round... SO, a 6' Bush Hog will only be cutting 4 1/2' to 5' per round... In shorter grass and weeds, you will be able to take a full cut... I can run my 6' Bush Hog with my 1962 JD-"B" with no problems....varying from 2nd to 4th gear... Hope this helps you...!! Ron.
