Have worked on my 4020 clutch that is very similar to yours. To get a good working, properly adjusted clutch you need to assemble the whole clutch assy in the flywheel and adjust the clutch fingers with the JD guage tool. Any wear on pins or fingers will cause the finger adjustment to change as the pins rotate. I ended up removing the flywheel from the engine and hauled the whole flywheel/discs/clutch assy to the local JD dealer where a mechanic with a lot of experience on this job did the final clutch finger adjustment on the tailgate of my pickup. Punch marked flywheel and clutch cover so everything went back on the engine in the exact same position and had a good working clutch.
