There should have already been a fuel shut off valve on that tractor. It's located just under the tank and is accessed from the right side of the tractor. Did you clean out the carb real good before installing the kit? I'd take it apart and soak all the hard parts overnight in a good quality carb cleaner then blow out all the passages with compressed air. Then maybe run some thin tag wire through all the orifices.
