Hi Les, Paul makes an excellent point about side load caused by the torque arm. You certainly can get extension shafts of a fixed length (female to male) that extend the shaft about 4 inches (as I recall). You could also make whatever length you need with a splined shaft section and a coupling. I would be concerned though about not running true due to clearances involved and the increased overhung side load caused by the torque arm. It could work but is surely not desirable. To do it well is likely more work than it's worth. My gut feel is to simply remove the shield and be done with it. It's not like there is a rotating U-joint or exposed mechanism that could represent a safety hazard. If you want or need to swap out your pump between tractors and use your pto for conventional shafting, it would not appear to be that big a deal to also reinstall the shield as needed. I have used the double U-joint arrangement that Paul mentions on a front hydraulic pump. It works great. You can use a close-coupled yoke to minimize the length of the two joints. That would work for you if you hard-mounted the pump. You'll have to decide if coming up with such a rig is worth not having to remove the shield.  Rod
