Hi Clint, A cashier check can have a stop payment issued for 10% of the check amount and if the check does not clear, then the Bank gives you back the 10% minus a service charge, around $25 Certified checks or cashier checks or no better than a personal check. The only "check" that can not be stoped without turning in the original draft is a Federal Bank Draft. If you loose the Draft it's just like loosing cash but the person who finds the Draft still has to prove identity to cash it. Ask any Bank and they will tell you the same.
