Does size matter?

New to tractors, so tell me this.... Two tractors, relatively the same HP, both utility type, different manufacturers, one a bit more modern than the other. Weights and size significantly different. The more modern tractor being larger/heavier. What benefit or disadvantage does more weight/size have in tractors intended for the same purpose? Also, what is the purpose of adding wheel weights, etc. Would the larger/heavier be better for using a front bucket, PTO attachments like post hole digger, concrete mixer, etc.?
