Did you just seed, or did you prep the ground too? If so, how much prep did it take? I have a neighbor who has me windrow his 5-10 acres of oats the last 2 years. I kinda ask him for $5 an acre to cover fuel, & he kinda writes a check for $10-12 an acre. We both seem pretty happy. My swather is so old it doesn't have a serial number, no need to depreciate any more! :) If this was a 1-time deal, $40 should cover your expenses & might set you up for a favor in return. if this is more of a business deal or you'll be getting more folks pestering you for such work, you best figure out your expenses & start-up costs (travel & set-up, which can cost more in wear on tires & high-speed rattling & insurance that the actual work on 4 acres!) and get some rates set up for yourself. An extention office will have 'standard' rates for such operations, but small-acre horse setups should be doubled or have a starting fee, to cover those set-up expenses. --->Paul
