Hi andy, You've already been told how time the distributor to crank. Once running then I time by rpm. Set rpm fixed at 1500rpm, or running on main jet and not on idle jet is the goal. Advance timing to where the engine will miss then retard just until the miss quits then retard another 40rpm, tighten distributor, return to normal idle rpm. Your done. This method allows for all worn parts and altitude and is very accurate. T_Bone
