Massey 135 diesel or Ford 3400 gas

I'm looking at 2 tractors in my area. The Massey 135 has a Perkins diesel and the Ford has the gas engine. Does a gas powered tractor do the job? I hear everyone talking diesel. I've got 10 acres to spray herbicide and very little mowing, as well as light duty arena spreading. Your input would be appreciated. Tod
