To wire a 3 wire Delco 10SI alternator to a mag equipped tractor.
1 convert from pos to neg ground system. This requires installing the battery with the neg post to ground and switching the wires on the amp guage posts to the opposite side so the guage will read correctly with neg ground.
2 Hook the Bat terminal on the alternator rear to the bat wire going to the amp guage. This is the wire that was on the generator's regulator/cutout bat terminal.
3 using an auto parts store alternator plug,wire the #2 sense wire(usually heavy red wire) to the BAT terminal on the alternator rear.
4 Install a two terminal oil pressure switch on the engine and wire 1 terminal to constant battery voltage through a 5 amp fuse holder( the terminal where the pos battery cable attaches to the starter switch is a good place). Wire the other oil pressure switch terminal to the #1 exciter wire in the alternator plug(usually a small white wire).
Now when your running tractor's oil pressure turns on the oil pressure switch,it will excite the alternator and start the alternator charging.
When you stop the tractor engine the oil pressure switch will open and disconnect the exciter wire from the battery,so no chance of leaving a switch on and discharging the battery.

The alternator #1 and #2 terminal numbers are cast into the rear alternator housing just below the regulator plug.
