I have a I2444 which is covered by the same service manual but does have differences. I am assuming that yours does not have a seperate front mounted pump driven from the front on the crankshaft. If it has this then it holds a lot more tranny fluid. and the level should be 6 inches down from the top of the filler plug. about 20 gallons total capacity of HYTRAN or equiv. Well here goes for the 2444 for what it is worth.
There are 3 drain plugs underneath. 1 in bottom of tranny, one in box in front of tranny and one in the rear under the PTO output shaft. These all drain the transmission/rearend. The fill plug for them is the one on top of the tranny. The full check plug is on the right sort of behind the front end of the foot rest plate and the brake pedals. The lift unit has its own drain plug on the rear and a fill plug on the top rear. The lift fluid ( HYTRAN or equiv. should be about 4 - 4.5 inches deep in there. That is 4 inches of fluid not 4 inches down from the top of filler plug. The first symptom of low fluid in the lift box is loss of or erratic power steering ( if yours has it). Hope this helps and does not confuse this issue further.
