Oil levels

I have recently bought a 364 I-H. I have a service manual but it refers to the operators manual to drain and fill fluids. I have ordered an operators manual but I need to know how to check the fluid levels before I use the tractor. The tractor has two oil level plugs one on either side of the tractor but the oil runs out of these plugs as if they were overfilled. I think the lift fluid is separate from these. There is only one fill plug and it is on the gear shift plate. The lift also has a fill plug on back top of the lift cover. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.---THANKS--
