Rick- You might take a look at the Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club BBS (www.acmoc.org) and ask there as to the value. They can help you find the serial number etc. as well. Good advice about determining ownership - seek it from a lawyer. Don't know what state you are in, but in Oregon, and many other states Cats are not titled, so there is no good way to trace ownership. One way you may be able to establish ownership is to place a mechanics lien on the Cat for a parking/storage fee. Charge a $100 a month parking/storgage fee and soon you'll have a lien sufficient to force a sale and that should help to establish ownership with the court's blessing. Disclaimer - I'm not a lawyer nor am I dispensining legal advice, only an attorney can do that. This is offered as a suggestion to take up with the appropriate legal types. -rad
