It can also be welded with out to much trouble preferably by an older certified welder. What they normaly do is drill a small hole in each end of the crack to stop it from running then grind the crack out till it looks like a valley and either weld it with a high nickel rod or even smith weld it by heating up a rod and pounding it into the crack. Both repairs do well and renew otherwise throw away blocks. I have welded an old syrup kettle and my 8n block using each method. They are both still cooking several years with out any more leaks.
