Thats a pretty common occurance of later model vechiles now a days espically Fords from 4.6 litre engines and smaller with hemi style plug tubes or troughs. The silcone plugs wires seal good when cold and when run for a bit seem to shrink as they heat up letting mostiure in and creating a mis-fire.Its recommended after washing to remove plug wire and blow out trough or tube. And when you think about it on todays engines with all the electronic goodies and sensors under the hood it pays to wrap and protect as much as possible before pressure washing or misfires and drivabilty problems will occur. I use sandwhich bags or plastic wrap and rubber bands to seal as much as possible then when through use my air blower to dry out as much as possible before stating it up.
