A few more comments in addition to terry's, Try to look at the hydraulic drive motors, look for cracks and/or welds on the shaft. And run the machine by lifting dirt, going up a hill and so on. Also see if you can get an oil sample and drain it threw a very poruous filter, to see if a lot of dirt is present in the system. I used to work for a guy 10 years ago that had an old Erickson bobcat and he was to cheap to put new oil in the system that he used buckets of old engine oil to fill the hydraulic tank.
