I've built a few bumper pull trailors useing the advise i got from my friend who has built more than 200 trailors. He said to put the "center" of the axle or center of the center of 2 or 3 axles, 6 inches "behind" the center of the trailor bed NOT includeing the tongue!! So, in a double axle trailor, you put the center of the two axles 6 inches BEHIND the center of the trailor bed. Then add on the tongue. Unless it's a speciality trailor of some type this works every time.
I built mine as he said, and they pull very good!!! I've also told others who have built theirs this way, and all are very happy with how they pull.
I built the trailor in the picture useing the above method, and i've pulled it many thousands of miles. It pulls excelently!!
