Hi, Folks. I've come late to this thread but I have to say that I reckon Nick's request is legitimate. The old spring loaded sliding pin is NOT the only PTO shaft lock on the market and one or two of the others are NOT the easiest to figure out. With regard to young operators, I started working on wheat farms when I was 15 1/2, driving tractors, ploughing , seeding, harrowing, crop-spraying, mowing, raking, baling, cart hay, harvesting, the works. Before that, I was operating a Cat 22 'dozer that my father had on the family dairy farm, unsupervised from age 12. My parents must have had a bit of confidence in my ability to handle it or I doubt I would have been allowed to do the work. Likewise, The farmer brothers that I worked for must have had some level of confidence in my ability to do the work or I doubt I would have lasted the 2 1/2 years that I was there or the next 2 1/2 years that I was in my next job where the farmer I was working for had a Cat D4 'dozer. I ended up doing ALL the work that that D4 did by the time I left that job to take up operating full time. One very helpful attribute in any kind of work but especially operating/driving is common sense. Another is the ability and willingness to think about what you are doing and the consequences of it. Living and working on farms tends to give some rather practical lessons about things like that. The people who learn those lesson that way seldom forget them. There aren't many better training grounds. Be gentle on those who have not had the benefit of that sort of training and help them where you can. You may HAVE the knowledge but you don't OWN it. It belongs to the Universe and the fortunate ones among us who have it ought to be sharing it with those less fortunate --- BEFORE they get into trouble if we can. You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

The Rescue of a Fordson F - by Anthony West. Introduction I live in the UK and have for many years restored Fordson tractors (in the main model N's). I have also restored and shown model F's, E 27N's, Field Marshall Series 2, David Brown Cropmasters and the old rey Fergeson T 20. At one time I had seven restored examples which were shown and used in ploughing matches. As most restorers, I have a number of war stories I can relate on a range of topics that may help other like minded and interested people. Perhaps my first p
